Before installing a correct driver, there are few steps that need to be done depending on what kind of Mac hardware you have. there are three major hardware variations:
a. M1 based
b. Intel based with T2 security chip
c. Intel based without T2 security chip.
very easy to identify which one you have.

M1 based - Go to, About This Mac --> Overview.  if it doesn't say Chip Apple M1 there, please follow the link to find out if you have b. or c.   https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208862

now when we know what Mac variation you have (a, b, or c), we can setup the Mac accordingly.

for a. you need to select 'Reduced Security' in 'Startup Security Utility'. see here how to get there
https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/change-security-settings-startup-disk-a-mac-mchl768f7291/mac

for b. Go to Startup Security Utility and select 'No Security' under 'Secure Boot'. see here how to get there

for c. Nothing to do, you are ready to continue.

Security Settings on Mac

As of macOS High Sierra 10.14, a new security feature was introduced that requires user approval before installing driver software. Go to your Mac System Preferences > Security & Privacy panel to allow the system extension so your driver will work properly.

For more details, please see: http://developer.apple.com/library/content/technotes/tn2459

Please check to make sure you are downloading the correct driver.

Revision A, B, and C

The drivers required depend upon the revision of your device. Revision B and Revision C will have a serial number starting with B or C.  this serial number can be found on the bottom of your drive. Revision A will have no revision number visible. Make sure to install the correct drivers for your revision.
